Sherwin-Williams, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams Choose Celery as 2027 Color of the Year

When one thinks of the color of celery, a light greenish yellow comes to mind. Like most greens, it’s a calming, natural color. It’s the kind of hue that would make for a pleasant look around a home.

That’s definitely what the color experts at Sherwin-Williams considered when they selected Celery SW6421 as the joint Sherwin-Williams and HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams 2027 Color of the Year. Ashley Banbury, color marketing manager at Sherwin-Williams, notes that Celery SW 6421 was chosen by the Sherwin-Williams Trendsight Team from Rewild, the 2027 Colormix® Trend Forecast. It is available from HGTV Home by Sherwin-Wiliams as Celery HGSW6421.

Banbury notes that Celery is a soft, fresh yellow green with subtle warmth that brings a calming yet uplifting presence to a space.

“It’s light and airy quality makes it approachable and versatile across a range of design styles, from contemporary and transitional interiors to heritage-inspired and nature-driven spaces,” Banbury observes. “Inside the home, it can bring a restorative quality to spaces designed for everyday living and connection, whether used more expansively or as a thoughtful accent. Its organic character also makes it a natural fit alongside wood tones, woven textures and other nature-inspired materials.”

Banbury said that Celery was selected because it reflects what the Trendmix team sees people prioritize in their homes today: wellness, balance and connection.

“Homeowners and designers are increasingly seeking spaces that feel restorative and support overall well-being, while also looking for fresh ways to bring the natural world indoors,” Banbury points out. Celery captures that shift beautifully. Its soft, herbal character feels soothing and grounded, while its lightness brings a fresh, uplifting energy that keeps spaces from feeling still or overly subdued.”

Celery SW 6421 pairs quite well with the Rewild Colormix 2027 palette, which Banbury says is rooted in everyday balance, lived-in beauty and shared moments, bringing together soft neutrals, grounded earth tones, nature-inspired greens, expressive accents and sophisticated jewel tones.

The palette includes White Flour SW 7102, Potentially Purple SW 6821, Cosmos SW 6528, Georgian Bay SW 6509, Artichoke SW 6179, Cocoon SW 6173, Woven Wicker SW 9104, Kirsch Red SW 6313, Plum Brown SW 6272 and complementary Minwax® stain, Pickled Oak MW 260.

 “Celery acts as a fresh, restorative presence within that mix and pairs beautifully with the depth and dimension of the surrounding shades,” says Banbury. “Kirsch Red SW 6313 and Plum Brown SW 6272 introduce bold warmth and sophistication, while Potentially Purple SW 6821 and Cosmos SW 6528 add refined softness and quiet elegance. Over the past few years, Sherwin-Williams has selected more natural tones as its Color of the Year, and Celery fits nicely there.

In particular, Celery pairs quite well with Universal Khaki, the 2026 Color of the Year.
